On October 2, 2026 we met in Dordrecht for a sequel to 2025s Fronteers: Dark Mode.
After a successful first edition in 2025, we repeated the formula last Friday: once again in Dordrecht at Filmtheater and Brasserie De Witt, featuring a two-course dinner and five inspiring presentations! Harry Roberts, Cyd Stumpel, Barry Pollard, Anjana Vakil, and Heydon Pickering took turns evoking nostalgia, charm, and surprise.
You can get an impression of the atmosphere at the event from the photo gallery on the conference website!
Super talented Cyd Stumpel wrote a recap of the conference, sharing her thoughts on Fronteers and explaining her front-end magic on her blog: "Demo deep-dive, praise and thoughts from Fronteers Dark Mode conference". Thank you so much for the kind words; as the organizing team and board, we truly appreciate it!
"The cosy vibes of a smaller theater are also what makes Dark Mode special, I think. It felt like I was able to actually talk to every attendee that wanted to ask me stuff about my talk after –if you didn’t, feel free to send me an email!"
When we organized Fronteers Dark Mode for the first time last year, our goal was to give something back to our members. The format turned out—almost by accident—to be perfectly suited for connecting people. And in the era of agentic coding, we consider that incredibly important. As an association board and fellow developers, we want to share our love for the craft with you. Making interfaces pleasant and accessible for everyone—together. Figuring out new features that are still being rolled out by browser vendors. Yes, sometimes it seems like the whole world gets stuck on hype cycles simply because "it's the thing to do." That’s why it’s especially great when we can organize something fun for you that shows you aren't alone! Purchasing a ticket for the conference—or otherwise supporting our association—enables (and motivates) us to continue organizing meetups and gatherings. We are grateful to the new members who have joined over the past month. We hope to welcome you all to Dark Mode 2027!
